Bitter, oil on canvas, 12x16".
This small "portrait" will be part of an ongoing series that I started with SHAME:
My desire is to capture an emotion in each piece using slightly different approaches than in my larger work. The smaller pieces give me an opportunity to loosen up my paint application, or just take risks in general.
I have always used smaller pieces to break up work on my larger works during drying time. Personally, I don't enjoy working on one painting every day (unless a deadline demands it). As I learn something new from every work, I can take that to the other pieces I am working on at that time.
I happen to be working on a very large piece right now, so expect more portraits to come.
